Notes

  • Henry and his wife Ann seem to have been severly afflicted in that most of their children pre-deceased them. It may have been that Henry had some sort of illness because in 1817 he decided to leave his farm. An advertisement appeared in Jacksons Oxford Journal on 8.3.1817 for the letting of Field Farm, in the parishes of Thumbly and Wornal, at that time in the occupation of Henry Rippington.  It would seem that this is the Field Farm located on Menmarsh Rd, Worminghall, particularly as it is adjacent to a small estate called Wornal Park.  It is also very close to Thomley Hall where his father lived.  The farm is described as comprising an excellent new built farm house and farm buildings, adn 217 acres of good arable land divided into convenient inclosures and in a ring fence, together with from 10 to 70 acres of rich meadow adjoining the River Thame.  Henry was apparently quitting from Lady Day 1817.
His corn, hay, livestock and implements of husbandry were offered for auction on 9.2.1822.
