    LAW SITTINGSĀ—(This Day.)
    Rippington v. Spiers
    ________________
According to his cousin Mary's will (1844), Richard initiated the law suit in the High Court of Chancery against Thomas Croxford Spiers of Thame.
Records held by National Archives show that the proceedings extended over quite a few years - at least from 1839 until 1844.
Information has it that this was not unexpected for law suits heard in the High Court of Chancery, which in this instance may have been an action for breach of trust; as the defendant is an Executor to Uncle Thomas' will.
Charles Dickens says in Bleak House that Chancery Suits were on the whole a bad idea! (serving to enrich the lawyers but not much else). The whole process was reformed by the Judicature Acts later on in the 19th Century.
The outcome of this suit is not yet known.
